The above paper recipe is over 49 years old and a good reason why I now have my website. Every favorite recipe is in one place and does not tear. It is easy to share with my friends, too.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Stick of softened Butter

  • 4 Eggs

  • 1 tsp. Vanilla

  • 1-3/4 Cups of Hershey Syrup

  • 1 Cup Flour

  • 1/2 tsp. Salt

  • Frosting: 3/4 Cup Sugar; 4 TBLS Butter; 4 TBLS Milk; 1 tsp. Vanilla; heaping 1/2 cup of your favorite chocolate chips

Directions

  • Mix together sugar and softened butter
  • beat in 1 egg at a time till very fluffy
  • Add vanilla & syrup and mix
  • Mix in salt & flour, scraping down sides and bottom till well mixed
  • Pour into a 9 X 13 greased pan
  • Bake @ 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
  • While brownies are baking cook the frosting by adding all ingredients, except the vanilla and chocolate chips. Heat over medium and watch closely as it comes to a full boil then quickly remove from heat (if it boils too long it gets sugary). Stir in the heaping 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and stir till melted. Add vanilla and stir. The frosting thickens as it cools. Stir every now and then until thick. Spread on cooled brownies.

  • This favorite brownie recipe is adapted from the 1974 Open Bible Church/Iowa Falls, Iowa Recipe Book
