The above paper recipe is over 53 years old and a good reason why I now have my website. Every favorite recipe is in one place and does not tear. It is easy to share with my friends, too.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Stick of softened Butter

  • 4 Eggs

  • 1 tsp. Vanilla

  • 1-3/4 Cups of Hershey Syrup

  • 1 Cup Flour

  • 1/2 tsp. Salt

  • Frosting: 3/4 Cup Sugar; 4 TBLS Butter; 4 TBLS Milk; 1 tsp. Vanilla; heaping 1/2 cup of your favorite chocolate chips

Directions

  • Mix together sugar and softened butter
  • beat in 1 egg at a time till very fluffy
  • Add vanilla & syrup and mix
  • Mix in salt & flour, scraping down sides and bottom till well mixed
  • Pour into a 9 X 13 greased pan
  • Bake @ 350 degrees for 45 minutes minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
  • While brownies are baking cook the frosting by adding all ingredients, except the vanilla and chocolate chips. Heat over medium and watch closely as it comes to a full boil then quickly remove from heat (if it boils too long it gets sugary). Stir in the heaping 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and stir till melted. Add vanilla and stir. The frosting thickens as it cools. Stir every now and then until the frosting comes to peaks. Spread on cooled brownies.

Notes

  • This favorite brownie recipe is adapted from the 1974 Open Bible Church/Iowa Falls, Iowa Recipe Book
